Kununurra School and Community Library

The Kununurra School and Community Library is a joint-use facility with the East Kimberley College. The library aims to provide excellent and relevant library programs, resources and customer service to the students, community members and visitors of East Kimberley College and the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley.

Kununurra School and Community Library specialises in children's services, visiting author and illustrator events, programs that promote community harmony and resources about the Kimberley.

Kununurra School and Community Library is frequently described as the cultural hub of the town - a reputation we are proud of!

Opening Hours

The Kununurra School and Community Library's normal operating hours are:

Monday 8am - 4pm
Tuesday 8am - 5:30pm
Wednesday 8am - 12:30pm
Thursday 8am - 5:30pm
Friday 8am - 4pm
Saturday 9am - 1pm

During School Holiday periods we open the following hours:

Monday        10:00am - 4:00pm
Tuesday        10:00am - 5.30pm
Wednesday  CLOSED
Thursday       10:00am - 5.30pm
Friday            10:00am - 4:00pm
Saturday       9:00am - 1:00pm

The library is located on the corner of Coolibah Drive and Mangaloo Street, Kununurra and is situated on the East Kimberley College grounds.

Activities For Children And Parents

The Library offers Rhyme Time and Story Time each week. These sessions are an opportunity for children and their parents to read books, sing songs and participate in many other activities all of which will encourage the enjoyment of books.

Borrow Box

BorrowBox is an award winning Australian App that enables Public Library members to browse and borrow bestselling eAudiobooks on their Apple or Android device for limited periods through digital loans. BorrowBox is a FREE download solution. Once you are signed in you can borrow or reserve up to 6 eAudiobooks or eBooks for a 2 week loan period Your library card membership number makes up your user name and the last four characters of you membership card make up your password.

Box RB Digital

Provides State Library and Public Libraries members with access to a range of eMagazines delivered right to their desktop or favourite mobile device. All you need is you library card membership number.

Management Committee

The Minister of Education and the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley hold a long-term agreement for the managerment of the library, to cater for the whole community. The agreement calls for the formations of a Management Committee of six people, including two community members, who meet on a monthly basis during the four school terms. Special Events

The library hosts a number of events during the year.

The Kimberley Writers Festival is an annual event which aims to entertain and inspire the residents of, and visitors to, the East Kimberley with a variety of authors, musicians, songwriters, storytellers and illustrators who share their life stories, expertise and love of the written and spoken word.
