Road Conditions

The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley provides a list of current known road conditions and closures in the region.

This list is updated frequently during major weather events and on an as-needed basis at other times.

Motorists in the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley are advised to take caution when driving on roads and to drive to prevailing conditions.  Road conditions can vary rapidly and a 4WD is recommended on all gravel roads.

After significant rainfall roads can be slippery and unsuitable for travel.  Council urges all drivers to show caution when crossing any floodwater on roadways and creek crossings, delays can occur due to road conditions and it is recommended travellers pack adequate food, water and spares.

Please also be aware that potholes may form in road pavements during periods of high rainfall.

Towing of trailers or caravans on unsealed roads over the Wet Season is not recommended.

Closed Road Usage Permits 

Closed Road Usage Permits may be issued in extenuating circumstances. Application must be made three business days prior to planned travel.

Temporary Road Closures

Temporary Road closures occur in the Shire and extend only for a short period of time to allow for circumstances such as community events and road works.
