The Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley, working with NBN Co, has invested almost $58,000 to create a new nbn Business Fibre Zone at the Kununurra Airport.
From February 3, businesses in the Airport precinct can access business nbn™ Enterprise Ethernet with no upfront build cost from NBN Co and at the equivalent wholesale price as businesses in Perth or Darwin when ordering an eligible service on a three-year plan through a retail service provider.
Business nbn™ Enterprise Ethernet enables end users access to high speed broadband and performance and reliability when moving their vital data. It is nbn’s fastest symmetrical wholesale product that can deliver wholesale download and upload speed tiers from 10 Mbps to close to 1 Gbps#.
Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley President David Menzel said it will make life easier for Kununurra Airport businesses.
“Access to the Business Fibre Zone is a game changer for our East Kimberley Regional Airport and businesses within the airport precinct,” he said.
“This Initiative will provide the current and future businesses at the airport access to fast broadband that will allow them to do their business in “real time”.”
Head of WA nbn local Naomi Evans said the local investment would provide significantly improved access to business grade broadband to the Kununurra Airport.
“This new Business Fibre Zone will ensure that more regional businesses can participate in the digital economy on an equal footing to their capital city counterparts,” she said.
“Businesses are increasingly using business nbn™ Enterprise Ethernet to support cloud-based business operations, remote file storage, large file distribution and remote connection to office locations. For decades the location of a business has been the determining factor in the price they pay for business-grade fibre.
“It is also a demonstration of nbn’s ongoing commitment to working with local communities and increasing the digital capability of regional Australian businesses.”
The service is on-demand, which means businesses need to place an order for an eligible service to gain access and realise the benefits.
Businesses at the Kununurra Airport will be able to place an order for Business nbn™ Enterprise Ethernet through an internet provider from today. Other businesses within Kununurra can also contact their provider about their potential eligibility for the service.
