Shire Facility changes with Phase 3 of COVID-19 Roadmap to Recovery

The Shire Wyndham East Kimberley is pleased to announce that from Saturday 6 June, several Shire facilities will adjust their opening restrictions, as part of Phase 3 of WA’s ‘Roadmap to Recovery’.

Phase 3 includes a new gathering limit of 100 persons per single undivided space, with up to 300 patrons per venue (‘the 100/300 rule’). Full contact sport and training will also be able to resume, in line with these new gathering limits. A requirement for 2 square metres of space per person at venues will replace the existing 4 square metre rule.

Kununurra Leisure Centre Gym

  • Reopening Saturday 6 June
  • 20 person limit at all times
  • Sign in on arrival
  • Gym users required to have their own towel
  • All equipment regularly cleaned by staff
  • Personal Training NOT permitted
  • 2 square metre rule

Swimming Pools – Kununurra Leisure Centre and Wyndham

  • Recreational swimming permitted
  • Lane space bookings no longer required
  • 100 patrons at a time
  • Changing rooms open
  • Opening times remain
  • 2 square metre rule

Squash Courts – Kununurra Leisure Centre

  • Squash games permitted
  • Maximum 20 people in the foyer
  • 2 square metre rule

Playgrounds, skate-park and outdoor gym equipment

  • Reopened for use from Saturday 6 June
  • 2 square metre rule

Ovals

  • Full contact sport and training to recommence
  • 300 persons per outdoor facility at all times
  • Spectators are required to maintain 2 square metres of physical distancing

Basketball, Tennis and Netball Multipurpose Courts

  • 300 persons per outdoor facility at all times
  • Basketball Courts will be open during daylight hours for free community use
  • 2 square metre rule

Wyndham Youth Programs

  • Resuming from Monday 8 June

Clubs and community organisations that wish to book or use Shire facilities will require a COVID Safety Plan to be completed and lodged with all booking forms.

The Shire will continue to update the community as it implements the necessary precautions and procedures to ensure public safety.
