The Shire's Sport and Recreational Facilities to Partially Re-Open

Published on Monday, 18 May 2020 at 3:05:37 PM

The Shire Wyndham East Kimberley is pleased to announce that several Shire sporting facilities will re-open from Monday 25 May 2020. This includes the Kununurra Leisure centre, Wyndham Swimming Pool, Shire ovals, Peter Reid Memorial Hall and the Ted Birch Memorial Youth and Recreation Centre.

As part of Phase 2 of WA’s Roadmap to recovery, all Shire facilities will place some capacity restrictions to minimise the risk of spreading Coronavirus. This includes a maximum of:

  • 20 patrons in the aquatic space,
  • 20 patrons in the indoor hall and
  • 10 patrons within the squash court foyer and courts
  • A limit to one person per squash court for training purposes only

The Kununurra Leisure Centre gym will remain closed until further relaxation of restrictions is announced.

The Shire will trial opening hours and a booking system at both the Kununurra and Wyndham Swimming Pools. Members and guests will be required to book a 45-minute slot to secure lane space before arriving to avoid disappointment. To book a lane space, please contact the Kununurra Leisure Centre on 91682120 or Wyndham Swimming Pool on 91611293.

Clubs/organisations that wish to book any Shire facilities will be required to provide the number of participants, a hygiene safety plan, and a record/log of all participants. Please provide this to the Shire within 24 hours of the booking.

For additional information regarding facilities, please contact the Kununurra Leisure Centre on 91682120. The Shire appreciate your patience as new measures are put in place. We’re looking forward to seeing you from Monday 25 May
