The Shire Engages with NAJA Business Consulting Services

The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley has engaged NAJA Business Consulting Services to assist the Shire in the delivery of an East Kimberley Economic Development Strategy and accompanying Prospectus.

The Strategy will outline an investment pathway for the orderly development of the East Kimberley economy, bearing in mind the effects of the recent COVID-19 pandemic and the stimulus required to facilitate recovery. The Prospectus will provide us with a marketing tool that can be utilised in advocating for critical infrastructure projects in our region.

As a remote region, we have some unique barriers to economic development. However, the Shire has many positives which can be leveraged to ensure an optimistic outlook towards a prosperous future. We will be considering areas of economic development such as small business, tourism, agriculture and industry and will be assessing growth opportunities within each sector. We will also be looking at “livability” – what are the factors that add up to a community’s quality of life? This will include assessing the built and natural environments, economic prosperity, social stability, educational/employment opportunities and cultural, entertainment and recreational possibilities. Our abundance of water, quality agricultural land, pleasant climate with a long growing season, proximity to some of the largest and quickly developing markets, and natural tourism attractions should stand us in good stead for the future.

As part of the preparation of the Strategy, NAJA will soon be undertaking community and stakeholder consultations. Once confirmed, the timing of these consultations will be advertised in the Kimberley Echo Public Notices and on the Shire’s website.

The Shire would like to encourage the community and stakeholders to support this project.
