FAQ's
This section of the website is aimed at providing or linking to information that is useful to residents and land owners in the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley.
Owning Land In The Shire
Ownership of land means accepting certain responsibilities. Development of the land must meet Building Services and Town Planning standards, be in accordance with the Town Planning Scheme, and be approved by the Shire.
Landowners contribute to community infrastructure through the payment of Rates and taxes.
The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley is responsible for administering the provisions of the town planning, building, health, bushfire, dog control and emergency management legislation introduced by the State Government.
Shire staff can help landowners gain the required approvals for development and building proposals and provide advice on matters relating to land ownership.
The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley also provides a range of community services and those services are funded from a combination of grants from the Federal and State governments, from fees collected for services and from the levying of rates on properties. The annual budget prepared by the Shire establishes the level of service provided to the community and also sets the level of rates paid by individual landowners.
