Delay to the Kununurra Splash Pad due vandalism

Further delays to the opening of the Kununurra Splash Park are now expected due to the recent break-in and vandalism to the new ablution block and splash park flooring.
Shire President David Menzel said it is extremely disappointing that there are people in our community that would willfully damage the new Water Playground.
“It is sad and frustrating that the facility is being damaged before it is even open,” said David Menzel,
“We have been very fortunate to receive funding from the State Government to build this free facility for our community to enjoy. This kind of behaviour not only affects the delay in opening the facility but creates a substantial cost to rectify the damage.”
The state-of-the-art $3.2m Splash Park is expected to be open later this month once construction and health regulation checks are complete. The Water park will feature slides catering to all ages, water cannons and interactive toddler features.
