The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley is pleased to announce a significant upgrade to the Wyndham Community Boat Launching Facility, proudly funded under the Federal Government’s Growing Regions Program – Round 2 and the State Government’s Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme.

In late 2025, SMC Marine was awarded the construction contract to deliver the improvements, which will enhance safety, accessibility and functionality for the boating community.

The project includes:

  • Replacement and extension of the entire northern boat ramp
  • Replacement and extension of the final 18 metres of the southern boat ramp
  • Replacement and extension of the existing floating pontoon jetty with a new 3.5-metre-wide jetty structure
  • Installation of safety features such as dual level fendering, central handrails, navigation lights, heavy duty tie down bollards and a non-slip plastic deck

Construction is expected to commence in mid-May 2026, with completion anticipated in the latter part of the year.

While disruption is expected during the construction period, efforts will be made to maintain vessel launching access for most of the works, all docking will need to be via Anthons Landing. In the event of an emergency, provisions will be in place to accommodate the launching of vessels.

This upgrade represents a major investment in local boating infrastructure and will provide improved safety, access and capacity for recreational and commercial users well into the future.
