Elaine Clucas (KAJE Environmental Health Services) has been appointed by the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley to prepare the Shire’s first Public Health Plan.
Under the Public Health Act 2016, all local governments must prepare a Public Health Plan that aligns with the State Public Health Plan and responds to local needs. The purpose of a local government public health plan is to set priorities and actions to promote, prevent, protect and enable the public health of its community.
The development of the draft Public Health Plan (Plan) will be informed by community feedback collected through the Strategic Community Plan and other Shire strategic engagement processes, alongside State health priorities, local health data, and stakeholder consultation.
The Public Health Plan will set out how the Shire will support health and wellbeing across the East Kimberley through services, programs and initiatives. The Plan is a high level document aligned with the Shire’s Strategic Community Plan and will guide future planning, budgets and decision-making.
