At the Ordinary Council Meeting on 28 April 2026, Council endorsed the following proposed differential rates and minimum payments for advertising. In accordance with Section 6.36 of the Local Government Act 1995 the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley hereby gives notice of its intention to impose the following differential rates and minimum payments on rateable property for 2026/2027:

The rates in the dollar shown above are estimates and may change as part of Council’s deliberations following any submissions received or changes to property valuations. All normal statutory entitlements in relation to rates for pensioner and other concession holders will apply.
The objects of the proposed differential rates are to ensure an equitable distribution of the rating burden across land uses, having regard to the use and characteristics of the land, the capacity of ratepayers to pay, and the cost of providing services. The reasons for the proposed differential rates include achieving financial sustainability, aligning rating outcomes with the Shire’s Strategic Rating Policy, and ensuring that each rating category contributes an appropriate share of total rate revenue.
The Strategic Rating Policy which is used to determine the GRV (Gross Rental Value) and UV (Unimproved Value) differential rates and minimum payments uses the following principles: Objectivity, Fairness and Equity, Consistency, Transparency, Administrative Efficiency
