SWEK is going up in the world of tech!

The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley recently acquired a Drone to assist with routine asset assessments and audits.

Our officers are in the process of taking images and footage of Shire assets (roads, drains, buildings etc) to assist with pre-wet season audits and create a database of current condition.  This information will be used to establish the extent of change to an asset over a period of time or following a weather event and assist planning of maintenance and capital works.

This technology is a great resource as it allows access to areas previously unsafe for staff ie at heights, under bridges, inside drains and additionally reduces the cost of obtaining this information by reducing the need for consultants and allows us to assess these areas faster with more accuracy.

We wish to advise the community that the images taken with the drone are for the purpose of assessing Shire assets only.

If you have any questions relating to the drone, please feel free to contact the Kununurra office on 9168 4100.
