Published on Friday, 20 March 2020 at 2:19:52 PM

The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley continues to take direction and advice from relevant State and Federal Government agencies during the ongoing global development of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic with respect to our preparedness and response.

In an effort to slow the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Australia the Federal Government has implemented new restrictions on gatherings:

  • Non-essential gatherings of more than 100 people indoors are no longer permitted.
  • Outdoor events of greater than 500 people are no longer permitted.

The Shire wishes to advise that the Wyndham Community Consultation Workshop scheduled for Thursday 26 March 2020 in Wyndham has now been cancelled. The workshop will be rescheduled for a future date, in line with advice from the Department of Health.

In the meantime, information from the last workshop can be found at swek.wa.gov.au/consultations/

Written feedback can be provided to the Shire via email mail@swek.wa.gov.au or in writing to PO Box 614 Kununurra, WA 6743.

As a local government, we are responsible for taking precautionary measures to minimise risks to health at public events and facilities in the face of this pandemic and we will continue to take the advice of State and Federal Agencies when making decisions which affect the community.
