The Shire has recently undertaken works on Mangaloo Street, for the purpose of improving parking around the East Kimberley College, formerly Kununurra District High School.
Works included relocation of bus parking bays to the Western side of Mangaloo Street, and installation of pedestrian protection islands on the Eastern side of the existing speed plateau.
This project was developed on the basis of a safety audit, which was initiated by the Shire.
People using this area are asked to take note of the new parking signs, so as not to be in conflict with school buses and students using this area. Roads marked with yellow line marking are ‘special parking zones’, in this instance, bus parking only.
East Kimberley College have advised that whilst there will be ‘Bus Only’ signage in place along Mangaloo Street at the beginning of Term 3, the new area will not be utilised until the second week of Term 3 (ie, Monday 29 July), to allow for staff and student training.
