The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley would like to advise that Ivanhoe Crossing will be closed from Tuesday 23 October 2018 until further notice.
As a result of reduction in irrigation demand and increased power there is more water arriving at Lake Kununurra gates. This has caused the Water Corporation to increase flows into the Lower Ord to maintain levels within Lake Kununurra. An inspection of the Crossing has highlighted that the water level has risen and exceeded an acceptable safe crossing level.
Barriers will be installed at either end of the crossing preventing access. The Shire has made the decision in consultation with Water Corporation.
