On Thursday 14 May 2020, the State Government officially released the COVID Safety Guidelines and Plan for Sports and Recreational facilities. As such, the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley is working to ensure all necessary measures are met before reopening the facilities to the community; this includes completing the COVID Safety plan recently provided by the State Government.
To date, the Shire has undertaken mandatory pool testing and are currently awaiting advice from the Department of Health. The Shire has also developed opening procedures in consultation with relevant industry stakeholders. The opening procedures will be trialled across the Shire facilities including the Kununurra Leisure Centre, Wyndham Swimming Pool, ovals, parks and Wyndham Youth and Recreation Centre. The Shire hopes to partially open all Sport and Recreational facilities by Monday 25 May 2020. There will be several restrictions in place to minimise the risk of spreading of COVID-19.

The Shire will continue to update the community as it navigates through all the necessary procedures to reopen safely. Our number one priority is the health and safety of our community and staff. We wish to apologies for any inconvenience caused.
